If you cannot appear in person and want someone in Colorado to pick up the vehicle for you:

Important timing details
- Storage fees start the moment your vehicle arrives at the impound yard
- Charges increase daily after midnight
- Picking up outside regular business hours adds an after hours release fee
- After 30 days, the vehicle is subject to foreclosure and ownership rights are lost
Steps to reclaim your vehicle
- Confirm you are the legal owner
- Show that the vehicle is currently legal to operate
- Pay the total balance due
- Drive it home and pretend this never happened
What you must bring
- Proof of ownership such as title or registration issued within the last 7 days
- Insurance cards do not count as ownership proof
- A valid government photo ID that matches the ownership name
- Current registration and sticker if plates are expired or missing
- Valid insurance proof if the impound reason involved no insurance
- Payment in full at time of release
Payment options
- Cash with exact amount only since change is not available
- Credit card accepted with a 4 percent processing fee
For out of state owners
If you cannot appear in person and want someone in Colorado to pick up the vehicle for you:
- Complete an Absentee Authorization and Hold Harmless Agreement
- Form must be notarized
- Send it to us before release is attempted
- No notarized form means no release, state law, not us being difficult
